Game Award News 3: Psychonauts is Back, Baby!

Didn't have to be a mind reader to see this happening. Maybe.

Gosh, between Telltale’s Batman and new Far Cry: Primal info, you’d think we were out of cool games to discover at this year’s Game Awards. But you’d be mistaken, you foolish fool, if you had such a foolish thought--for there was one more game announcement, and this is the big one. Also, technically completely unrelated to the Game Awards, but, still, you know, it happened around the same time, so...

Double Fine, the developer that should be a lot more successful than it really is (for innumerable reasons) is at it again--having had completed Broken Age, they’re now ready to move on to new projects… or, should I say, revisit old ones? Because after ten years, they’re finally ready to give us the sequel to Psychonauts we’ve always asked for…

...but first they need 3.3 million dollars.

And I thought Indivisible had some lofty goals, yeesh. The number wasn’t chosen at random, however--that’s how much they raised for Broken Age and they’re trying to make lightning strike twice. But I’ve gone on too long--I’ll let Tim himself fill in the rest.

Yep. Seems like it’s going to happen--or at least, they’re going to take a shot at it. The game is currently in very early pre-production, so there’s a lot we don’t know, but apparently almost all of the old team will be back to work on it, it will have a fusion of old and new psychic powers, and it will take a closer look at Raz and his story, including his old family curse.

Funding is happening over Fig, and at time of writing has raised nearly $700,000 USD. Not bad for how long it's been up… but there’s still a long way to go until the return of Raz.
