Game Award News 1: Telltale's New Batman

Like the old Batman, but with more dialogue trees.

The Game Awards were last night, and surprise-surprise, The Witcher 3 was the big winner. Which is fine, it’s a worthy game and not Fallout, so I have no beef with the contest, but… it would have been nice if it was a black horse or something. Regardless, while the Witcher 3 was the big winner for the developers, there were a lot of winners for the gamers--because we got a whole heaping of information, trailers, and other goodies during the ceremony, and we got to report on ALL OF IT!

...yep, I’m pumped too.

Firstly, let’s turn our eyes to TellTale games, the people who knocked The Walking Dead, Fable, and Borderlands out of the park… did an acceptable job with Sam and Max, Minecraft (so far), and Back to the Future… and didn’t completely ruin Game of Thrones. So their track record is pretty solid is what I’m getting at. But for all the IPs they’ve gotten to work on and stories they’ve gotten to tell, there’s one big one that’s been out of their grasp… until now.

It’s Batman! Now that the Arkham series is wrapped up, it makes sense to pass the reigns onto a new, ambitious company, and who better to completely ignore the fast-paced gameplay and amazing gadgets than Telltale, who will probably make us play through Batman’s origin story again and actually make it sad for the first time in forever.

Now, we might not get the action-hero batman we’re used too, but considering he’s also supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, we might have a chance to check that often neglected side of Batman out in this new game.

We’ll have to see. We know nothing the trailer isn’t telling us.
