Square Enix's E3 press conference has been quite decent this time around, bringing tons of interesting games, including a new IP, to the floor. We have received updates on a few games, but unfortunately, it feels as if many of these exciting games do not even contain release windows.
Moving forward, here are the highlights of Square Enix's 2015 E3 Press Conference:
First of all, the press opens with Just Cause 3. GZU has that covered in a different article, however. On a side note, I keep wanting to call it Uncharted.
Since then, we have seen interesting behind the scenes footage, mainly focusing on Lara, of Rise of the Tomb Raider. The development team aims to make her the most realistic character ever, both physically and emotionally. What is crazy awesome is that the team has imported the scares gained from her last journey. When Lara confronts foes, she can get bloody and dirty, but in other environments, such as snowy weather, you can see the powder collect on her jacket and hair. Refer to the gameplay article if you want to check out the gorgeousness. Rise of the Tomb Raider will release November 10 for the Xbox One.
Additionally, Lara Croft has been given the treatment as Hitman for the Go series. Yes, we now have Lara Croft Go. Explore the tombs that are in a three dimensional plane in a long-forgotten world. Patrick Naud, head of SE's Montreal Studio promises gorgeous visuals and a mesmerizing soundtrack. Let's hope so!
Okay, this may become a little annoying for you all, but my excitement here cannot be contained: NEIR NEW PROJECT! NEIR! NEIR! NEIR! Okay, I'm done, but with that said, another game of the Neir franchise has been announced, but this time with the collaboration of PlatinumGames, known for Bayonetta, Legend of Korra, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengence. They will be handling the action aspect, which would be an improvement over the original Nier, assuredly and admittedly. Who is featured in the trailer though? Originally thought Kaine, but it could be Yonah... or someone else.
They show Final Fantasy VII again, but it's same trailer. Even more unfortunate, no further details will be discussed until later this Winter. Fortunately for those still clamoring for the original, that particular title will head to the iOS this Summer and PlayStation 4 this Winter.
Then, we all got trolled with Kingdom Hearts: Unchained Key, a mobile game that seems to be more of a full game rather than a free-to-play title. The game also seems to feature illustrations similar to the ones from Bravely Default. This title will be available in North America and Japan for both the iOS and Android sometime.
But, oh, snap, there it is! Kingdom Hearts III has been unveiled with an update! There is mention that the long-anticipated Disney-filled action RPG will involve Tangle this time around. You can read more about it in our KH III-focused article here.
Then we circle around to World of Final Fantasy, of course, takes place in an entirely new world. I still say that the characters are overly cute!
Unveiled next is the (odd) gameplay trailer of Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness. It has been officially confirmed for North America and Europe for the PlayStation 4. The release date: 2016. From what we gathered out of the presentation, the transitions will be seemless, whether in battle and in events. Additionally, there will be dynamic and static events so as to not break the immersion. With the finished game, the team aims for 60 frames per second. You can refer to our article here for more information on the title. Unfortunately, there seems to be no PlayStation 3 release heading our way.
Then there is the new Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, using the Dawn engine. Takes placed in 2029, two years after Human Revolutions. Augmented people have been hated and forced into the ghetto. Not Adam Jensen, though. Part of task force 29, he thwarts terrorist attacks, but he works as a double agent. After all, he feels that the Illuminati created the task force. So how to take them down? He co-operates with a hacker. Choices and consequences are the heart of Mankind Divided. The story will change as a result of your actions.
Here is the first in-game trailer:
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided will be released later in 2016 for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation 4.
The Final Fantasy Portal App will arrive this Summer in English.
The press closed with a brand new RPG Project, developed by a new studio named Tokyo RPG Factory. We are given concept art I believe, painted, and vibrant with much to see. This new IP is titled Project Setsuna. There are plans for release sometime in 2016.
And there you have it. A great open, a beautiful closer, and long-awaited appearances have made this an exciting conference.
Now it's just a matter of release dates at this point...
What's your favorite aspect of the press conference?
Mine? Going to be a bit different here and say Nier. I loved the first one to death, so to see the second appear is a dream-come-true in my eyes. Next would have to be Final Fantasy VII remake, followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider.
For those that have missed the conference or would like to watch it again, we have it ready for you:
