Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir Duke It Out in Assassin's Creed: Syndicate

This doesn't exactly mean they will be in the game.

References are dotted across all video games. You can parkour in first-person within Dying Light's Super Mario Bros realm if a green pipe reveals itself, search for the "Lost" island in Just Cause 2, or come across an assassin's body that has fallen into a cart of hay and died in The Witcher 2.

And if you're able to recognize these references, a squeal may be wrenched from you.

Well, Assassin's Creed Syndicate hasn't been released yet, but it already contains an unexpected, yet astonishing reference.

In the reveal video for the upcoming game, you can view concept art containing two burly men. Now, one of them has a large tattoo shimmering on his back. Could be any man's typical tattoo, right?

Oh, no, there's only one man that wields such a tattoo, and he isn't fictional.

With the haircut to match, fans of WWE or UFC can recognize the man to be the one and only Brock Lesnar, beating down on the former heavyweight champion Frank Mir, detected by his own unique tattoos.

So what could this possibly mean? Brock Lesnar and Frank Mir will appear in Syndicate? Will they be playable characters alongside your main characters? Will they be villains? Or NPCs?

Or even voice actors!?

Or the artist could just have been having fun. I think we should assume this conclusion first before we assume anything else.

If you'd like to view the reference yourself, just take a look at 21:06 in the posted reveal video:

Assassin's Creed: Syndicate will release on October 23rd, 2015 for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with PC to follow.
