And now, officially, let me introduce you to Assassins Creed: Syndicate. We've known about the latest Assassin's Creed game for a while now, but it wasn't until this morning that Ubisoft officially revealed it via Gamestop. And while the press release is short on words, it's heavy on trailers!
Here's the introductory CGI Trailer, complete with licensed music, action shots, and pre-rendered CGI goodness.
Here's a video of our protagonist, Jacob, showing off his weapons of choice to a select few members of the London Underground.
And last but not least, we have a 9-minute pre-alpha gameplay trailer, which you can see below.
The 9 minute alpha gameplay is perhaps the most interesting. It reminds me a bit too much of Saints' Row, of all things, because it seems a giant part of gameplay will be doing missions to take control of districts that will be occupied by your gang, which will then wage war on surrounding districts of other gangs. A bit more historically grounded and fewer floppy dildo fights, but it seems the gameplay is similar enough, all the same.
Plus, I want to know what kind of horse can knock down a street lamp. That said, I actually really like this gameplay trailer, because it looks a lot more honest and sincere than the highly orchestrated Assassins Creed: Unity gameplay trailer.
Other details we know about this game: it won't have multiplayer, so no teaming up with three buddies for you this time. Its dedication to using women is apparently going beyond Evia, as several of your enemies will be female, even down to the grunt level. Some of the historical figures youll run into will include Charles Darwin and Charles Dickens.
So, there's our next Assassins Creed game. Between the mess that was Unity and the sheer joy of Black Flag, I'm hoping this leans further towards Black Flag. In the meantime, though, we'll be sure to learn more about the gaming in the coming weeks and months (and as Ubisoft heckles you into trying to pre-order it, don't forget) but that's all we have for today!
