Assassin's Creed has always attempted to be historically accurate, but that didn't stop several inaccuracies from slipping in. For instance, automatic handguns that were, according to the first Assassin's Creed, existent in the 16th century were deemed fairly inaccurate. Real assassins lacked the robes, hidden blades, and did not typically escape accross rooftops. Instead, they were patient spies that actually incorporated their own death into the missions they received.
In short, there have always been few minor slip-ups, even within Assassin's Creed: Syndicate, which hasn't been released yet. Excluding the Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir duel, a train, decorated with the British Railways logo, was discovered within the reveal trailer on Reddit. Fans of train history were quick to discover that the British Railways weren't exactly existent in the particular time frame of 1868. British Railways actually emerged in 1949, 81 years in the future.
However, Ubisoft was quick to explain the inaccuracy, stating that past scenes are accessed through genetic memories of someone in present day. So basically, for any inaccuracy, blame it on the present day user.
Is this intentional, though? Or just a big whoops from the developers?
Syndicate, once codenamed Assassin's Creed: Victory, has recently been announced with the release date of October 23rd for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
