The details for the Far Cry 5 Season Pass have been announced, and its the most unexpected combination of content I've seen in years, including an updated version of Far Cry 3.

Often times, DLC will expand upon the universe of the game it's for. Great examples of this are Bioshock Infinite's Burial at Sea and Horizon: Zero Dawn's The Frozen Wilds. Well throw those away because that's not what this is. Far Cry 5's Season Pass will contain 3 different unrelated scenarios, Dead Living Zombies, Hours of Darkness, and Lost on Mars.

Dead Living Zombies pits the player against hordes of zombies in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. Too horror-esque? Why not try Hours of Darkness, where you are dropped into the Viet Cong at its worst. Too real? Then Lost on Mars is your ticket. This expansion lands the player in, you guessed it, Mars. There you'll fight for your life against alien spiders.

Kind of hard to believe this is a game about fighting against a bunch of zealots in rural Montana. But if this was to come from anywhere, Far Cry is the most fitting. The series established itself as a beholder of wacky DLC with the Far Cry 3 DLC Blood Dragon, which was a homage, and a roasting, of all things 80s Vaporwave.

Speaking of Far Cry 3, preordering the Season Pass will include Far Cry 3 Classic Edition. This standalone expansion is, as Ubisoft describes, an update to the classic open-world adventure game. You can see a trailer for the remastered version below, which appears to merely be a higher resolution, smoother version of the game.

You can get the season pass now when you purchase the Gold Version of the game, priced at $89.99 digital and $99.99 physical.
