Many amazing E3 moments can be traced back to the announcement of new Zelda titles... and while this year there wasn't a live audience to cheer this announcement- it easily out-shined anything Microsoft or Sony did in their press conferences. Eiji Aonuma reflected on some of the open world design of the early Zelda titles, and if you've played the most recent Zelda on 3DS... you know this team has brilliantly found the sweet spot of the Zelda formula.

I had predicted this E3 we would only get a name and title image for the WiiU Zelda... but in fact it was quite the opposite. The game got a full reveal in everything but a name and title image. The most brilliant thing is this is basically a Zelda game, but in an open world Skyrim type setting. BRILLIANT! Also notable from the trailer was Link with a totally new design, abandoning his classic costume for the first time.

This is a brave new world of Zelda, but in the hands of true masters that have been with series from the start. This game not only wins E3, but might actually be able to save the struggling Wii... especially since we get it next year! The number of amazing games coming in 2015... wow... I'll actually have to compile a list after E3. Better start saving now!

Nintendo has not put the trailer up yet by itself (perhaps to not overshadow the other games announced today) but you can find it at the 19:55 mark of their Digital Event-
