Well, it's on now. Famous YouTubers everywhere are finding themselves with restrictions all over the place. At least, the ones who use strong language are. Recently, YouTube has flag and demonitized videos that could be seen as offensive. The idea behind the move is that advertisers do not want to be associated with those accounts. I supposed millions of subscribers each doesn't help sweeten that pot anymore.
Brought to you by nobody.
The question now is whether or not this is only the start of something much worse. As the newly-screwed Philip DeFranco states, YouTube is fully in their rights to do pretty much whatever they want. They could remove every video from their site tomorrow for the sake of cultural purity. But the trend now is that YouTube attacks things that YouTube doesn't think is okay. It doesn't matter that DeFranko has over 4 million subscribers who think he's just fine. And the worst concern brought up is that they are flagging videos that not only feature bad language, but those that show or discuss sensitive subject matters. That includes current events. A high-profile rape case? Flagged. A natural disaster? Flagged. And yet, I doubt CNN's channel has been hit with any restrictions.
