A little over a week ago, Yogscast member Matthew Meredith was outed for sexual harassment toward his community and moderation team. The confirmed reports led to the organization cutting him from staff. Yogscast co-founder Lewis Brindley asked folks online to speak out against behavior like this.
"Hi, just wanted to say if youve ever had a negative experience with a content creator or member of staff here at the Yogscast I want to hear about it."
And they did. Not long after, allegations against Turpin began to surface, claiming he would solicit them inappropriately.
Turpin, who was on leave during the investigation, resigned on July 17, confessing to these claims and apologizing accordingly in a post on the Yogscast subreddit.
Hi guys,
Just to let you know Ive stepped down as CEO of the Yogscast. When I recently said we expected the highest levels of professionalism from our talent, I need to be held to those standards too.
I have sent some inappropriate messages to several members of our community and Im deeply embarrassed about this error of judgment. Theres no justification or excuse for my behavior. I was in a position of considerable responsibility and you all deserved better from me. If youve been upset by my actions, Im very sorry.
Regretfully yours,
Turps
This is a more severe change for the company. Turpin has been CEO of Yogscast since 2012. At least he owned up to his actions and resigned formally.
