I feel like it's XSEED day today. Well, more like week, technically. Yesterday, Senran Kagura Shinovi Versus was released on Steam (and at a discount of 10 percent, so get it while it's hot), and today, the publisher has announced plans to publish a trio of indie titles on consoles. They're not your ordinary indie games either.

In the coming months, Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity will release on the PlayStation 4, Exile's End will launch for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, and the Nintendo Wii U, and Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will appear on the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Nintendo Wii U. All three titles will be playable at this year's E3 at the West Hall, Booth #5000 at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 14 until June 16.

According to Executive Vice President Ken Berry at Marvelous USA:

"We always seek to publish games across a broad spectrum of genres and themes to ensure we're bringing our loyal fans the games they most want to play, and we always hope we can introduce titles that may become new favorites for them. We're thrilled to be working with these talented independent developers to help share their unique games with our passionate community, and we look forward to fan feedback on these new offerings!"

A bit about each game:

Shantae: Half-Genie Hero

In the magical world of Sequin Land, Shantae, a young half-genie, defends her home of Scuttle Town against enemies of all kinds, including pirates. Players use her hair-whipping and transformation abilities to battle their way through jungles, ruins, and deserts. This will be her first HD adventure, so expect some vibrant sprites. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero will be releasing sometime this fall in a special physical "Risky Beats" packaging that will contain a musical selections CD featuring over 20 songs. The suggested retail price will be $29.99.

Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity

This is an action-RPG, a far cry from Touhou's bullet hell roots, featuring the 500-year-old "Scarlet Devil" Remilia Scarlet who is searching for something new to end the monotony driven by her immortality. She comes across a newspaper article about a powerful, mysterious monster that has been terrorizing the countryside. She rushes there to search for the monster, which results in failure. She returns to her manor to find it demolished. What in the world happened? Well, it turns out that the monster has been searching for her...

So with new-found determination, she begins her search for this monster. Players can take the role of either Remilia Scarlet or her maid, Sakuya Izayoi. Except some fast-paced combat and waves of projectiles. Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity will be available digitally on the PlayStation Store, only for PlayStation 4 this fall.

Exile's End

Finally is the dark 2D sidescroller Exile's End, that offers adventure-style puzzles and gameplay a la Metroidvania and cinematic platformer. This title, which borrows from classics such as Out of This World and Flashback: The Quest for Identity. Get ready for multiple endings, animated cutscenes, and an atmospheric soundtrack by Keiji Yamagishi, who is behind Ninja Gaiden and Tecmo Super Bowl. As for the story?

In the distant future, the son of a mega-corporation Ravenwood president goes missing on a remote mining planet and all contact is lost. The company sends a team for mercenaries to investigate, but the mission goes wrong, and the ship begins to crash. The mercenaries manage to escape via escape pods, but an old, bitter private named Jameson landed. In an attempt to restore communications on the planet, he encounters the remains of a mining colony that holds a secret that's much too sinister.

Exile's End will be available digitally on the PlayStation Store for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita, as well as on the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U this summer.

Stay awesome XSEED Games. Stay awesome.
