XSEED Announces Release Date for Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity

Yup, I'm back with GamerzUnite (well, as a writer once more), and as my personal "welcome back" article, I'd like to chat about Touhou - y'know, Japan's most popular indie series, which also serves as a home for some of the raunchiest fan art ever - but more specifically, XEED Games' launch date for the Western entry of the franchise, Touhou: Scarlet Curiosity. And yes, this title was originally a fan-crafted PC indie title. I fully endorse XSEED's acceptance and distribution of this title.

Simply put, it's been recently announced that the bullet hell-inspired action RPG will exclusively pierce North American PlayStation 4s on September 20, 2016.



Anyway, for those in need of a recap or synopsis, Scarlet Curiosity, inspired by niche series like Ys, features a standalone story involving two playable protagonists, a nominal vampire named Remilia Scarlet and her loyal maid, Sakuya Izayoi.

What inspired this adventure in the first place? Well, to put it bluntly, boredom. Well, boredom induced by immortality, to be exact. You see, Remilia, also (sort of) known as "Scarlet Devil," is 500 years old. After living for half a millennium, how can life continue to be so tantalizing?

And that's exactly what Remilia is seeking - a blade plunged into the heart of boredom. In Scarlet Curiosity, that blade emerges in the form of a newspaper article featuring an enigmatic monster who's terrorizing the countryside. So she sets out, hungry for the flesh of this fiend, only to return home empty-handed... and with her manor in ruins. Whoops. It turns out that the fiend decided to pay a "friendly" visit.

With the flames of revenge burning within her chest, Remilia begins her journey in tracking down this menace.
