Liooon participated in the official Hearthstone tournament during BlizzCon 2019 in Anaheim, California. She played against Brian "bloodyface" Eason. She swept the competition away with a final score of 3-0.
This is the first time a female player has won a major Hearthstone competition. It's also the first time a female player has won any of the BlizzCon events. Liooon gave the following speech upon her victory.
"I want to say for all the girls out there who have a dream for esports competition, for glory, if you want to do it and you believe in yourself, you should just forget your gender and go for it."
Having won the grand prize, Liooon will be taking home $200,000 (¥1,406,000 in Yuan, the currency used in her home of China) in prize money. Bloodyface will be taking home the second-place prize of $100,000 and incrementally smaller prizes will be awarded to those who placed eighth and above.
Congratulations, Xiaomeng Li. Your efforts have paid off and your accolades are well-deserved.
