Xbox One has been kicking ass and taking names lately, as you likely know, due to the dual threat of backwards compatibility (which will be coming out to the population at large come November) and the Xbox One’s excellent compatibility with Microsoft’s latest OS, Windows 10. With Microsoft’s stock rising higher and higher, we’re only left to wonder: how much longer can they keep surprising us with good news?
Apparently they still got a few in em’, because over Twitter, Xbox boss Phil Spencer recently answered a fan’s question in a very interesting way. The fan asked, in standard fan fashion, if the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility feature might one day go all the way back to the original Xbox.
Phil Spencer’s response?
"I don't think it's silly. I ask the backwards compatibility team this question a lot. Need to finish 360 backwards compatibility for now."
So! Someday, we might be able to use the Xbox One to play the very first Xbox games on the market! That’d be one hell of a trip, huh? Granted, this is far from a promise, and it’s obviously still a long ways away, but still… that’d be really neat if they can make that work!
But still, one step at a time. Let’s see how things to come November first.
