Well, funny thing about that: for all the crap the Xbox One got for choosing to go in that direction, now that we're three years out from when it was first released, we still haven't seen the fruits of Microsoft's labor. While the Xbox One is a perfectly fine gaming console, it doesn't have all the functions, called DVR, that were promised all those years ago. Turns out, that's because Microsoft has kind of... given up on them.
Speaking to The Verge:
"After careful consideration, we've decided to put development of DVR for Over-the-Air TV on hold to focus our attention on launching new, higher fan-requested gaming experiences across Xbox One and Windows 10. We're always listening to fan feedback and we look forward to bringing more requested experiences on Xbox One, Windows 10 and Xbox Live this year."
Awkward. Getting all that flack for a feature you ultimately wound up dropping anyway. Still, it does mean they're listened when people told them they wanted the Xbox One for video games and not much else, so... that's a plus-side.
And hey, the Xbox One is down to 300 bucks, so, they even listened when players said they like saving money. You're two for two, Microsoft, keep it up!
