"It's going to be an interesting year for us because we don't have Gears, we don't have a Halo first-person shooter game." said Phil Spencer.
Some of the larger and more publicized/anticipated titles announced for release this year include Sea of Thieves, Crackdown 3 and State of Decay 2. Spencer also teased us, stating that maybe there are some titles that they haven't told us about yet. Regardless of his vague tease, 2017 will without a doubt be an "interesting year" for Xbox without their biggest franchises releasing new titles.
Although we won't be getting a new Halo FPS or a new Gears of War, we do have the release of Project Scorpio to look forward to, if you have the extra spending money for a new console that is. Phil Spencer expressed his absolute confidence in the graphical qualities of the Scorpio, saying he's excited for developers to take advantage of the beefed-up power to make better-looking games.
Project Scorpio is quite a unique console release since it's a mid-generation hardware update rather than a full generation leap like the Xbox 360 to Xbox One. This means that all games and accessories for the Xbox One will be compatible with the Scorpio. Players don't necessarily need to buy the Scorpio unless they feel like a hardware update and a overall better gameplay experience.
