Xbox 360 Receives a System Update Two years After Discontinuation

It's just bug fixes, though.

Whether you never got around to moving to the Xbox One, or you just like having both, a surprising new update has come to Xbox 360 owners. Its content is nothing of interest, but the attention is because this is the first update after the product line was discontinued two years ago.

The update itself is listed as minor bug fixes and improvements. But considering where it's at in its life, we're just happy that it's still being given proper support. The last system update for the console came on March 29, 2016. About a month later, Microsoft would announce that they are ending production of the Xbox 360.

Even today, the Xbox Live Service and Marketplace remain active and in use. Though with Xbox One integration and backward compatibility, the transition toward the newer console has been growing increasingly easier. It won't be long before Microsoft makes the full push away from the previous generation, in favor of the next.

Sony has big plans for the PlayStation fairly soon (up to three years from now). Perhaps Microsoft does as well.
