Xbox 360 and PS3 Ports of Mortal Kombat X are Officially Kaput

Is it an ice cold move?

Mortal Kombat X for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 is much like a friend that you've inadvertently backstabbed. How? You promised to take said friend to the airport to see her family she was only able to see once a year, but you slept in and forgot your task, leaving her in her apartment 30 minutes away from your home.

Since that fateful day, you asked her to hang out. She told you maybe next week. Then you ask the next week when she would be available. She replied maybe in a couple weeks because she was busy with finals. So a little fretful, you finally ask the following weekend, but in a very deadpan manner, she tells you, "No, we're done. You can kiss our friendship goodbye."

You're completely lost, confused, and upset. Because you still forgot what you did.

Well, for those that have been looking forward to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Mortal Kombat X, they have faced a similar fate. Back in April, the ports were originally delayed until summer due to failure of meeting expectations. For the same reasons, the ports were then delayed until fall.

But now, the plug has been pulled. The ports have been teased time and time again, but like the Wii U cancellation of Project CARS, Warner Bros. decided to cancel them entirely.

Quoting community manager Yorick on the official Mortal Kombat X forums:

"Please know our teams worked diligently to meet the quality standards set by the current-gen versions of the game. We were not able to get the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions to the quality expected of a Mortal Kombat game and are very sorry for not being able to deliver the products as originally planned."

If you pre-ordered the ports, Warner Bros. suggest that you should get a full refund. Just goes to show that Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 are becoming a bit too outdated.
