It’s a pretty popular cartoon sitcom… thing on Cartoon Network, with a rather large following and a central joke of mundane banality overlapping an innately insane world where whacky, impossible things happen on a daily basis. One such event was when Garrett Bobby Ferguson, or GBF, or ‘a giant floating head from outer space’ appeared on the show as an antagonist for a single episode as the universe-wide record holder for an arcade game.
If anyone saw his disembodied head as familiar, it’s because it appears to be based on Billy Mitchell, the central figure of 2007’s “King of Kong: Fistful of Quarters”, a documentary about holding the first perfect score in Pac-Man. Well, Billy Mitchell certainly saw the similarity, and he actually tried to sue Cartoon Network over his depiction in the show.
Well, the results came in today. He lost.
“The television character does not match the plaintiff in appearance: GBF appears as a non-human creature, a giant floating head with no body from outer space, while Plaintiff is a human being. And when GBF loses his title, the character literally explodes, unlike Plaintiff.”
Well said. That said, it’s not too late for Billy Mitchell to explode into a mass of goo. Let’s wait until he hears the news before we jump to any conclusions.
Regardless. Odd bit of news today, but... honesty, how could I pass an opportunity to talk about Regular Show, if even for a bit?
