Wolfenstein Parody Tackles Ethics of Punching Nazis

This time around, it seems no one can get away from politics. It's everywhere. It's on social media. It's on sitcoms. Hell, even video game developers are getting in on it. I'd love to say that it's because of petty and unrelated things. Unfortunately, the reason it's so prevalent now is that the stakes have never been higher. Nothing proves this point quite like the question "is it okay to punch Nazis?" When you really think about it, that's such a mind boggling question. Why should that have to even be asked in 2017? Are Nazis still a thing? Who wants to protect them? What the hell did I miss?

Don't worry, because you're not alone. To help bring to light how ridiculous 2017 is, Ramsey Nasser released a parody game based on Wolfenstein 3-D. Nasser calls the game Dialogue 3-D. It works mostly how you remember the classic Wolfenstein does. You walk around with a gun. You aim at Nazis. You pull the trigger. This time, though, instead of shooting the Nazis, a dialog box pops up. There are a number of different questions the box can ask, but each one questions the ethics of what you're trying to do. This leaves you standing in front of a Nazi who wants to commit genocide while answering a moral question about whether or not shooting is the right thing. Hell, the Nazis are even currently shooting at you while you have to answer the questions. Only after answering are you allowed to actually fight back.

I'm talking about questions like-

Can't you just give them a chance?

Isn't it your job to convince them that they're wrong?

Is Nazism different from other political positions?

Is this the right thing to do?
