Witch-Bot Meglilo is just as Crazy as it Sounds

Believe it or not, it's a dark comedy.

For those of us who remember the 80's, there's a bit of nostalgia for older, simpler games. I'm particularly reminded of the Galaga craze. That vertical shmup style shooter has existed for decades now. Plenty of other games and companies have run up to tackle the genre, but not quite like Witch-Bot Meglilo. That games takes a very, interesting approach to the genre. You know what? It's better if I just show you.

Looks about right.

Witch-Bot takes the bullet-hell approach that has been piggybacking on the genre forever. Instead, it also throws in a crazy story and visuals for what the developers call a dark-comedy. One of the most interesting things about the video is the warping mechanic. When put in a tight spot, Meglilo can stop time for a moment and teleport to a relatively safe spot. It's unsure if this is the only unique thing Meglilo has to offer, but I'm sure many of us will find out. If you find yourself in the market for a nostalgic shmup with a crazy Japanese twist, then give Witch-Bot Meglilo a look.
