Whaaa? There could be another Wipeout game? There sure can, according to Sony's Shuhei Yoshida. According to VG24/7, During EGX 2015, Yoshida discussed the growth of the original PlayStation and the games that have propelled the system forward, explaining that his teams were balancing between franchise and new IP.

To put it simply, "Never say never." This is in response to Wipeout's return:

"There are many IPs that we kind of stopped iterating with new games. One of the reasons is we always love to work on new IP."

"From my standpoint I try to balance the number of games in a franchise. In the future there might be a chance to come back to a game like Wipeout."

Though Wipeout may return, that doesn't mean Crash Bandicoot will follow the same fate, as Activision--not Sony--owns the IP, which is saddening, because I am personally looking forward to a revival of the classic series.

Le sigh...

But on a more positive note, Syphon Filter studio Sony Bend is apparently up to... something.

According to Yoshida:

"Sony Bend exists. They are making some awesome cool game that we have not announced. I'm not allowed to say."

Well, this seems to be a fresh IP, but who knows? Guess we will just have to be patient, and in the meantime, write a petition letter to Activision about bringing Crash Bandicoot back.
