Windows 10 has been quite the controversial chapter for the world's biggest PC developer. It was kind of forced on people, with upgrades happening automatically (even against the wills of the PC's owners) and even prompted lawsuits for being so invasive. I, at the very least, am not sure why Microsoft was being so pushy with the damn thing: is it like they have some kind of doomsday device and they need to infect the PC's of the world with Windows 10 to power it? Is it going to hypnotize us with mind control? Is it just straight-up stealing our data? The opportunities for conspiracy and groundless speculation are boundless!
Anyway. One of the chief complaints about Windows 10, other than all that other stuff, is that it isn't exactly a gaming-friendly OS. Between the terrible "Games for Windows" service, a lack of comparability with older games, and general slowness, many gamers preferred sticking with 8 or 7 to fuel their gaming habits. Well, Microsoft has heard their complaints and has recently announced The Creators Update for Windows 10, which will launch with a gaming mode, aptly called "Game Mode", to help folks make the most of their PC gaming.
Basically, Game Mode, when launched, will optimize your PC's settings to help improve games performance. Microsoft wasn't much clearer beyond that (although they seemed very excited), although they also said that improved communication and features between Windows 10 and Xbox One would also be a thing, like sharing achievements, leaderboards, and even the ability to host and monitor tournaments.
Will it be enough to win gamers over? Well, I mean, it doesn't really have too, PC gamers are stuck with Windows whether they like it or not, but it might be enough for some people to begrudgingly upgrade their PC to a Windows 10, which will bring us one step closer to Microsoft's complete assimilation of the cybernetic world.
Which wouldn't be the worst apocalypse, really.
