There are a ton of fights breaking out across the web about whether or not the Nintendo NX will stand a chance against the PS4 Pro and Xbox One S. Before I get into any kind of opinion, I'm just going to list off some facts. For starters, we don't know much about the Nintendo NX, but we're learning more and more every day. Plenty of rumors have surfaced about the NX being a home console that also has a handheld device for use out in the world. This was actually just confirmed to be true by the President of Pokemon. Secondly, Nintendo has a different gaming focus than Microsoft and Sony. This is extremely obvious just by looking at the most popular games on each system. Xbox and PS4 have Battlefield 1 and Infinite Warfare coming out, but the Nintendo NX has Smash and The Legend of Zelda; Breath of the Wild.
When it comes to a fast paced FPS games that requires responsiveness and a fast framerate, the Nintendo consoles won't compete with Xbox or Playstation. On the other hand, when you look at gaming exclusives, Nintendo takes the cake. ReCore came out and it dropped very low of expectations. Gran Turismo Sport has been delayed until "some time in 2017." Nintendo has Pokemon, Super Smash Brothers, Mario Party, Mario Kart, Pikman, Animal Crossing, and The Legend of Zelda, which is one of the highest rated game series of all time.
I'm far from being a Nintendo Fanboy. I'm just a fan of gaming in general, and while Sony and Microsft do beat Nintendo in many ways, Nintendo has their fair share of victories as well. I don't think Nintendo is in this to try to beat anybody. Sony wants Xbox sales to drop and Xbox wants PS4 sales to drop, but Nintendo doesn't care. I could swear on everything in my life that my Xbox is so much better than my PS4 and I love playing on it so much, but eventually I'll get bored of playing Overwatch, so I'll go play Smash instead. That's the beauty of being Nintendo. You aren't trying to sell more Battlefield copies than Sony and Microsoft. You're just trying to sell your own games. The console sales aren't split in half like the PS4 and Xbox.
I personally have both a PS4 and an Xbox, but there's no real reason to. It's the same stuff on both consoles, aside from a few exclusives. Nintendo doesn't really have any competition to split up their sales. The only thing Nintendo has to do is convince players to buy their new console instead of settling for their old one. This is the perfect position for Nintendo to be in, and I think they've taken advantage of this spot for a long time. They just need to make sure the NX is as big of a game changer as the Wii was. If they can give players a reason to upgrade from their Wii and Wii U, the NX is going to be insane.
