What Held Tom Clancy's The Division Back?

It's repetitive. It's repetitive.

As I mentioned in a previous article, Tom Clancy's The Division is free for this weekend only. I decided to play quite a bit, seeing as how I had the opportunity to get a very decent trial. Keep in mind, at the time of writing this I only have about six hours into the game and I'm still playing. I really enjoy the game and I haven't had a bad time playing it at all. Aside from a few difficult missions, I've had an incredible time with the game, but I do think there could definitely be some improvements.

The biggest thing, in my personal opinion, that held this game back was the lack of diversity. Take out the Dark Zone and what you're left with is random encounters that are extremely small, main story missions to improve your base of operations, and minor side quests. I understand that this is your typical open-world shooter, but I just feel a little shorted as I play. I mean, these missions are extremely repetitive and I honestly don't see any major difference from hour one to hour six.

Aside from enemies getting stronger and leveling up my gear, I don't really get it. So, I beat enemies to get gear and with that gear, I kill harder enemies to repeat the cycle? Obviously, the Dark Zone is a huge part of the game and it adds a whole different element, but as far as the early game goes, I understand why a lot of people opted out of this one. Again, I don't think this is a bad game by any means, but you need to know what you're getting before you play. If you think there's something extra that people aren't talking about, there isn't.
