In case you didn’t realize it, E3 starts next week, and that’s a pretty big deal. But even if you’re a gaming company that’s not part of the handful of gaming companies that are presenting at E3, you’re still probably preparing to announce something adjacent to it – you know, so it can be caught up in all the general hype. That seems to be the case with Google, which just announced they’re going to have a big Stadia press release on the 6th, specifically calling out that “some news can’t wait for E3”.
Called “Stadia Connect”, this will be the first we see if the would-be platform since it was first announced in March along with a vague statement of intent. It still seems far too early to actually go forward with this platform, considering how demanding it probably is on the internet and how crappy the US’s internet actually is, but it’s not unlikely they’ll go for an international release first, which might be discussed at the Connect. They might also announce some first-party games, which would be interesting, but it would be silly to assume anything third-party would be shown off, especially with E3 around the corner.
But I guess we don’t have much of a wait before we find out more.
