Watch Sean Bean Learn that He Dies in the Civilization VI Trailer

Sean Bean has a grim stereotype in the acting world. It's well known that if you see Bean on screen, he's not going to make it. We're talking about everything from Golden Eye to Lord of the Rings to Game of Thrones and beyond. Far too often, he ends up dead in a multitude of different ways. Fans even seem to forget that he totally survives the end of the first Silent Hill movie. Considering the franchise, that's a pretty big feat.


See? Still alive. Very sad, but alive.

His series of demise is also true for the Civilization VI trailer. Bean provides the voice of a tragically fallen character who narrates the video. Unfortunately, this ill fate was news to Sean Bean. When asked how he felt about the death in a behind-the-scenes video, he comes back with, "do you mean I don't survive the trailer?" and "But I thought I survived this."

He ends up laughing about it at the end, but for a moment, you can sense a bit of what he's feeling. Even a video game trailer isn't safe for characters played by Sean Bean.
