Watch_Dogs_2 was, by all accounts, a far better game than the one that came before it, largely because it embraced the silliness of the entire premise and wasn't afraid to have a sense of humor and personality around its cast. I mean, for sandbox games, you kind of need a wiliness to embrace silliness: completely serious, mission-focused heroes aren't a good fit, given how much goofing off players tend to do in these environments. And now, Ubisoft has gone ahead and embraced the maximum zany possibilities with the upcoming July 4th patch, 1.12, which adds 4-player co-op.
This new "Party Mode" allows you and three other friends to share the same world and cause as much goofy mayhem as you'd like. You won't be able to do any main missions or the two-player co-op missions, but extra game modes designed specifically for 4 people with be added as well, including three brand-new ones: "Hacking Invasions," Bounty Hunter," and "Armored Truck.".
It looks really cool, and perhaps even cooler was the fact it was originally designed to be DLC, but Ubisoft is giving it away for free! Maybe as a birthday present for our country? Maybe as preemptive penance for what they're about to do to Beyond Good and Evil 2? Who knows! Enjoy it while you can, because old Ubisoft is probably going to come back any minute now.
