The impossible has happened. Ubisoft is feeling generous. Break out the fine china, the good wine, the champagne, because this is celebration worthy. "Showdown" is a multiplayer mode that was previously supposed to be released as part of Watch Dog 2's next premium DLC. Regardless of their motive, Ubisoft has decided to pull the 'Showdown' mode out of the premium DLC and offer it to players across all platforms for free on April 17th.
The DLC itself, titled "No Compromise" will release the next day for PlayStation 4 and on the 19th for PC and Xbox One. Why they are taking a game mode out of the DLC and releasing it for free a day earlier is beyond me, but I see no reason to complain. Ubisoft apparently made the decision after the community significantly requested more multiplayer options. Good on Ubisoft for listening to the community, but it could have been a tad sooner. Better late than never I guess.
With the release of Showdown, Ubisoft will be offering a series of outfits, vehicles and non-lethal weapons in its absence as part of the No Compromise DLC. Showdown incorporates three different modes, "Steal the HDD, Doomload and Erase/Protect the Servers". While it may be a tad close to the release of the DLC, at least it's free and also makes room for extra content. Free is usually never a bad thing, and in this case, I'm fairly certain it's not. Way to go Ubisoft.
