Warframe, the popular sci-fi free-to-play shooter, is now available on Nintendo Switch. The game has appeared on the Nintendo Switch eShop Market alongside the most recent batch of new titles.

Developer Digital Extremes announced their plans to bring the game onto Nintendo's most recent console back in July, during TennoCon. With Panic Button behind the porting process, there was no certainty as to when the game would be released.

To commemorate the release, all new Tenno (the game's name for the players) playing on the console will be given a starter pack of in-game items. Available via the Comms Segment, the pack is only available until the end of December 4. It contains a number of newcomer-friendly items, listed as follows.
  • 50,000 Credits
The game's main currency, these are used to purchase new equipment, Warframes (classes), upgrade equipment mods, and just about anything else.
  • 3-Day Affinity Booster
You're weapons and characters all have their own levels and leveling systems. The more you use them, the more affinity (experience points) you accumulate. This item will give you a boost to your affinity rate for a total of three days.
  • Orokin Reactor
Your weapons and Warframes can be equipped with a number of mods. Each mod changes the item in question in one positive way or another, costing a certain number of mod points. The player can only hold so many "mod points" at a time. This item will double the mod capacity of whichever Warframe you install it on.
  • Orokin Catalyst
This item does the same thing as the reactor, but for your weapon.
  • Forma
Eventually, your stuff will reach the max affinity rank. At this time, you have the choice of installing a Forma on them. This will reset the item level to zero once again, while also polarizing one of the mod slots on the item. Polarized slots reduce the number of mod points a mod requires. Hold on to this item, it'll be a while before you need it.

Existing Warframe players can import their PC account save information to the Switch version of the game but not their PS4 or Xbox One saves. The account migration is a one-time action, and cross-platform account saving is not available.

Digital Extremes recommends checking out their Switch FAQ page with any console specific questions, and the official Warframe Wiki for game information.
