A documentary based on a man's dream of collecting Nintendo games is an odd premise, but one that fans enjoy. Vision Films has recently released the most unofficial and unauthorized Nintendo documentary ever, titled Nintendo Quest. Only on Vimeo at the moment with an expanded major digital and DVD expanded release set for December 1st, Nintendo Quest is a documentary that follows two gaming enthusiasts, Robert McCallum and Jay Bartlett, as they set off for the ultimate gamer's road-trip: purchasing all 678 official retail-licensed Nintendo (original NES) games within 30 days without resorting to the internet.
During filming, the trip exceeded 10,000 miles and featured exclusive interviews about the NES culture with well-known names in the video game industry, such as the 'greatest arcade player of all time' Billy Mitchell, 'Twin Galaxies' founder Walter Day, Patrick Scott Patterson, Warren Davis, and Tommy Tallarico.
(Editor's Note: Welp, I guess I know less about the gaming industry than I thought, because none of these names ring a bell for me.)
Perfect for fans that are fond of the NES era's collectible culture (or just fond of the NES days), Nintendo Quest is available on Vimeo for rent at $7.99 (24-hour streaming period), or for purchase at $12.99.
The renting price is a little high, surprisingly, considering the rental prices of films on services like the PlayStation Network.
