A hard working group of individuals are currently grinding out hours while they work on Naughty Dog's new expansion, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. The expansion is set to release in just a few months and they're trying to get through all of the final development stages. Naughty Dog has come out and said that after The Lost Legacy is completely finalized, members of the team will be swapping over to begin working on The Last of Us II.
Josh Scherr, the co-writer of The Lost Legacy, was asked about future plans with the Uncharted series. He said that he loves the game and is very appreciative of the fanbase they have picked up over the years. As much as he would love to keep rolling out expansions and new games, they do need to shift their focus onto other titles, of course referring to The Last of Us Part II.
He said that you can never say never and more expansions might be coming in the future. The development team isn't entirely sure where they want to take their next few steps in regard to Uncharted, but the future is full of possibilities. Perhaps in a few years the team will look into adding more real-life exploration expansions to their game, but after The Lost Legacy we won't be seeing another one any time soon.
