Uncharted: Lost Legacy Announced

It probably won't STAY lost for long, however.

A lot of stuff was announced yesterday during the Sony event, most of it touched upon by our other amazing journalists on this amazing website, but there was one that was glazed over: the announcement of a new Uncharted game!

…yep!

While Naughty Dog had said, earlier, that Uncharted 4 would most certainly be the final game in the series, they later took a step back from that statement and said, more generally, that it would be the final game that had Nathan Drake as the protagonist. That second promise, at the very least, holds true, as the next Uncharted game doesn’t star everyone’s favorite archeological vandal, but rather, his saucy sidekick from the second game, Chloe Frazer, teaming up with one of the baddies from Among Thieves, Nadine Ross.

Check out eight minutes of gameplay below:

So the game stars two women of color. And maybe it’s cynical of me to point that out, but it kind of feels like an odd pairing that only makes sense if you consider it a sort of playable apology for Nathan Drake being the avatar for douchey white entitlement. Otherwise, I can’t imagine why the unlikable snake charmer from the second game would team up with the unlikable hard-liner from the fourth game… a character who, I should add, was basically a Mary Sue, were it not for the fact she was technically on the losing side.

Although even then, she only really lost because she excused herself from the climax with a big ol’ F U to the actual big bad. So, there’s that.

Either way, if you’re just looking for more Uncharted, this is certainly that. While the game is standalone and doesn’t require Uncharted 4 to play, if you bought Uncharted 4’s Digital Deluxe Edition or the Explorer's Pack, you get it for free.

So that’s nice. And when is more Uncharted really a bad thing?
