In the history of Uncharted games, there's one that everyone keeps forgetting (even Naughty Dog themselves) - Uncharted: Golden Abyss. Developed for the PSP by the folks over at Bent Studios, who are also responsible for... the Syphon Filter series and Bubsy 3D.

The point is, they're due for a real winner, and at E3, they got their chance to show the world what they can do with a newly-released trailer for their latest and hopefully greatest masterwork, Days Gone!

"Days Gone is an open-world action-adventure game set in a harsh wilderness two years after a devastating global pandemic. Play as Deacon St. John, a Drifter and bounty hunter who rides the broken road, fighting to survive while searching for a reason to live.

At its core, Days Gone is about survivors and what makes them human: desperation, loss, madness, betrayal, friendship, brotherhood, regret, love – and hope. It’s about how even when confronted with such enormous tragedy they find a reason to live. Hope never dies."

While the premise itself--a post apocalyptic zombie wasteland (let's not pretend they're not zombies) is boring, I have to admit: the opening narration is actually quite strong, and fairly well-written, as far as shameless exposition goes. Otherwise, it seems to hit all the familiar tunes, but if it does it well, I'm not going to complain.

If you're interested, they also released a ten minute gameplay demo, which you can check out below. Otherwise: it'll be interesting to see how this developer does with a brand-new IP!
