Uncharted 4's Co-Op Mode Announced

Please include local co-op. Please. Please please.

A long time ago, Uncharted 4 came out with a 'road map' detailing all the things it wanted to add into the game, for free, as the months passed following release.  It was an effort to show gamers that the game would continue to be supported, even long after the game had been 'relevant,' and that it would be worth their time and money to become invested in the game long-term. And by all accounts, they've actually done a fantastic job keeping up with that roadmap, and new guns, maps, and other goodies have been added to the game's multiplayer at a fairly decent clip since then.

And yet, there's one feature, perhaps the most exciting one, that's been postponed: the co-op mode. Now, every Uncharted game except the first has had some kind of cooperative mode, and while one could argue the Multiplayer here could be co-op (if you're playing with friends, of course) it's not really an authentic experience... but, just the other day, Sony went ahead and announced that the new cooperative arena mode, called Survival, will arrive come mid-December... and let me tell you, it looks pretty cool.

Across 50 waves and 10 maps, you’ll face off against Shoreline mercenaries, heavily armored Brutes, Snipers, Hunters, and more that will only get more precise, more aggressive, and better equipped as time goes on. Every 10 waves culminates in an intense boss battle, including our all-new Pirate Warlords.

Well, consider me pumped. Between the boss fights, the extra challenges that will be included (needing to collect tokens, kill enemies in specific ways, limiting vision, and so on) it looks like my cup of tea. My only concern right now is that we don't know if be compatible with local co-op, which is something I really, really want. Naughty Dog will likely answer that in the days to come, so I'll be sure to keep my eyes peeled.

In the meantime, though... I'm pretty sure flintlock pistols didn't cause explosions that big.  Someone at Naughty Dog clearly needs to work on their history.
