After heavy community feedback, Ubisoft has changed a cutscene in the DLC for Assassin's Creed Odyssey that forced the player character into a heterosexual partnership.

Spoilers for Assassin's Creed Odyssey: Shadow Heritage, if you hadn't guessed.

Not long ago, DLC has released for AC Odyssey. In it, the player hook's up with the son or daughter of a guy named Darius. Unlike the rest of the game, the player automatically was given the "straight" option. This caused an upset with the gaming community since the rest of the game could be played in any sexual alignment they desire.

Ubisoft community manager UbiPhobos made a post recently in the Ubisoft forums, announcing their plans to resolve the issue

"Hello all,

After hearing player feedback and discussing within the development team we are making changes to a cutscene and some dialogue in Shadow Heritage to better reflect the nature of the relationship for players selecting a non-romantic storyline. These changes, along with renaming a trophy/achievement, are being made now and will be implemented in an upcoming patch.

We've also been carefully looking at the next episode, Bloodline, to ensure the paths that players experience mirror the choices they make in game."

Originally, the DLC was intended to produce a child, according to creative director Jonathan Dumont.

"Our goal was to let players choose between a utilitarian view of ensuring your bloodline lived on or forming a romantic relationship.

We attempted to distinguish between the two but could have done this more carefully as we were walking a narrow line between role-play choices and story, and the clarity and motivation for this decision was poorly executed.

As you continue the adventure in next episode Bloodline, please know that you will not have to engage in a lasting romantic relationship if you do not desire to."

Players can expect these changes in the next patch, which will be released at an undisclosed date. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is available on Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
