Look, I may be a fan, but I’m not a blind one, and I’ll be the first to admit that For Honor has a lot of problems. And not just with the connectivity: people ragequit out of the game all the time, because there’s no consequence for abandoning your team in the middle of a match, people make a habit out of annoying their enemies, and, darn it, there’s a lot of people who discovered that they could farm in-game experience and currency through AFK farming.
So long as they’re moving (which can be accomplished with a bot or a rubber band), the system won’t kick them for being AFK, so they can run around in circles while their team loses and still get the consolation prize for their failure. Well, if fans have had enough, so has Ubisoft, and they just announced over the For Honor subreddit that 1500 players have been banned for 3 days for their AFK farming, and that 4,000 got warnings.
They call this the “first round” of bans but made no indication that the punishments would ramp up from here, so it’s not as extreme as their stance on exploiters/modders in The Division.
Which is great. I guess. But one look at the comments and you’ll see most people are still annoyed about the whole ‘server issue’ thing.
But as far as I’m concerned, when you’ve got as many problems as For Honor, any start is a good one, so I’ll accept this with good graces and hope that even more, better changes are on the way.
