The information comes from Caviness' Twitter account, showing a screenshot of their ban notification. It describes the offense as "engaging in hateful conduct and threats of violence against a person or group of people."
The offense in question occurred while Kaceytron was appearing on the live stream of a fellow streamer, Rajj Patel. When asked whether she would kiss someone infected with the COVID-19 virus, she responded with a joke that encouraged the death of elderly folks.
"We would leave quarantine, and we would try to spread it as much as possible because the world would be a better place without old and poor people."
Caviness has taken the ban with apologetic sincerity, acknowledging the inappropriate nature of the comment. She's also asking that her followers stay calm while she handles things.
"I've been indefinitely suspended because of an insensitive comment I made last week. I don't condone hatred towards any person and it was a poor reflection of my character. I'm just trying to take this all in right now. I ask that my audience please remain calm and rational."
She follows up to the tweet, confirming that the comment made on Patel's stream is what the ban was for and explaining that while it was indeed a joke, it was an inappropriate one.
Currently, the United States is facing a pandemic with the continued spread of the COVID-19 virus. It's caused closures, shutdowns, job loss, and death around the nation, making it a sensitive topic of discussion. The illness is particularly susceptible to the elderly. It's understandable that Caviness' comment implying they would intentionally spread the disease in order to infect elderly folks would be something that Twitch would not want to leave be.
While Caviness has responded in a professional manner, the discussion around this news has been far less calm. Many internet strangers are taking the opportunity to harass the streamer, while other's are harassing Twitch itself for making the ban. We ask that if you are to engage in the discourse, you do so with respect toward everyone.
