Watch out Steam...

Twitch is, without a doubt, the most popular and successful streaming hub which has grown into a living, breathing social community. Twitch recently decided to broaden their agenda by allowing viewers to purchase the game that they're watching, with a portion of the revenue going to the streamer.  Look out Steam, because Twitch thinks that it's not just the best place to share and watch games, but it also wants to be the best place to buy games as well.  People often use Twitch as a way to check-out a game that they are considering to buy, so it makes sense that some people would want to buy it through Twitch. I mean, why not I guess?

Even if it's not more convenient, most people will most likely use this as a method to support their favorite streamers.  It's a smart business platform since a lot of people get attached to their favorite streamers, and they become a part of their daily/weekly entertainment.  Buying a game through somebody's stream will grant them 5 percent of the revenue. It's obviously not a huge profit for the streamer, but it's yet another way for them to potentially make money other than donations.

All sales made on Twitch will go through Amazon and upon launch, only US dollars will be accepted as currency.  Partnered streamers have to opt-in to this new feature in order for them to receive the 5%.  Other streamers who don't opt-in will still receive the option on their stream, but they won't get anything in return for sales.  Offering even more incentives to use this new feature, Twitch offers viewers a digital loot box with purchases over $5, with things like special icons.
