Twin Peaks is Getting a VR Game

It'll be about the Red Room.

If you were to make a list of fictional settings you'd like to experience for yourself, Twin Peaks probably isn't on there. The suspenseful and ominous Black Lodge isn't exactly an inviting one. But that hasn't stopped Collider Games from producing their own virtual reality game about it.

With series co-creator David Lynch helping on development, the studio has begun work on Twin Peaks VR for the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Based on the 2017 Showtime TV series (which is based on the 1990's show), players are given the role of Agent Dale Cooper. In the show, his physical form is possessed, while his mind and soul were trapped in the Red Room of Black Lodge. Instead of acting as the possessed form, the VR user will experience what the Red Room version went through.

This leads us to believe the game will take on an "escape room" style approach. This is common with VR games, due to their room-space capabilities. Whether it comes to the same conclusion as in Twin Peaks: The Return remains a mystery.

No official release details have been released to the public at this time. Though if you're in the Los Angeles area on October 13-14, you can sample a demo of the experience at the Festival of Disruption. More details of which can be found on the official website.

Twin Peaks is a TV series that began in the 90's. It began as a murder mystery style show, gradually shifting into a more fictional horror story with a dash of supernatural, spiritual, and psychological elements thrown in. Lasting two seasons, the show was given a resurgence last year with a new mini-series sequel.
