Texas is becoming quite the hub for indie studios. Austin is home to an upcoming indie studio, Twin Otter Studios, which has been revving up the anticipation for their first studio title Arcadian Atlas.

This game has caught my eye for one major reason: It is so blatantly obvious that Arcadian Atlas hearkens back to Final Fantasy Tactics and Tactics Ogre. In fact, I figured that out before reading the blog that admits the title drew inspiration from the two strategy RPGs. So let's delve a little further into the game, shall we? So Arcadian Atlas, to put it simply, is a hand-crafted 2D isometric tactical RPG that is pretty much jazzed up for the modern audience.

According to Becca Bair, Co-Founder and Creative Director of Twin Otter Studios, in regards to Arcadian Atlas:

"Twin Otter Studios' mission with Arcadian Atlas is to create the tactics RPG we always wanted to play ourselves."

In this pixel art world of Arcadia Atlas, elevations will be playing an important role, as it will be pretty painful if you step in the wrong direction. Filled with sweet, sweet jazz tunes, innovative job classes, a rich, character-driven narrative, and grid-based battles, Arcadian Atlas will soon invite you to experience the drenching, overpowering nostalgia, complete with dark, adult subject matter. Hopefully this game is as interesting as it sounds, because I definitely want to take a crack at this.

If you want to know more about this upcoming title, you can check out the official site here, which is filled with updates and Tweets about the game.

They even move like Final Fantasy Tactics sprites... Geez, I'm excited, because frankly, Final Fantasy Tactics is one of my all time favorite games. Arcadian Atlas is estimated to be released--and here is the depressing news--late 2017 for PC, Mac, and iOS. Though undecided at the moment, it could more than likely be priced at $15, though it could be less.
