Trendy Settles Suit with Wildcard

This picture would be way more appropriate if they had actually fought it out.

If you remember, awhile back we reported that Ark: Survival Evolved developer Wildcard had entered a legal battle with fellow developer and creators of Dungeon Defender Trendy Entertainment.

The source of the lawsuit came from former Trendy developer and probable jerkwad Jeremy Stieglitz, who went to work for Wildcard as a consultant and, according to Trendy, betrayed the terms of his old contract by giving Wildcard company secrets. They made their claim, Wildcard defended themselves, and both sides dug their heels in for battle: with Trendy threatening to block both the development and sales of Ark: Survival Evolved in the process.

...Well, apparently, that threat of lost sales was enough to make Ark: Survival Evolved developer's knees warble, as they've since changed their position and agreed to settle with Trendy.

Now, when this all started, Trendy was looking to sue for a whooping 600 million, easily enough to put the husband-and-wife founded Wildcard out of business. However, according to a new Reddit post has revealed that the two have come to a settlement of "about 40." Presumably, that means 40 million dollars, but it could be 40 cows or jars of Nutella or something, the details are unclear. The only official word we've heard so far comes from a mediation disposition report filed by the attorneys on both sides, which says:

"A mediation conference was conducted on the 13th day of April 2016. The conference resulted in a final written settlement agreement."

Now, I know Ark: Survival Evolved was a big hit on Steam, and is coming out to consoles soon, but even then 40 million can't be a small deal for them. Here's hoping it doesn't hurt their product, but... that's wishful thinking.

Such is the way...
