Well, for however good Respawn might be right now, Nintendo is still in the spotlight these days, and when asked about Nintendo and their latest console in an interview with Drunk Tech, Respawn Entertainment senior designer Mohammad Alavi stated in… no uncertain terms that the Switch will not host Titanfall 2.
"I was excited about [the Switch]. Nintendo's been in such a niche market recently, catering to the handheld and the kids, they've been so underpowered that they don't have the support of the third parties because they're all making for the PC, Xbox One and PS4, and it's no different,"
And when asked specifically about Titanfall 2’s future on the console…
“F@#k no! No, you're not going to be able to fit Titanfall 2 on the Nintendo Switch. That's the same Zelda from the Wii U."
So clearly, Nintendo does not have a fan in Mohammad Alavi, but he probably has a point: developing for the Switch is going to have the same problem as developing for the Wii U, in that it will demand a lot of extra time and money from developers. That will be a deterrent, to say the least.
But, then, it’s too early to call it. Cough.
