First of all, while Threadripper isn't out now, here's what we know:
- It will be previewed alongside the RX Vega graphics cards at SIGGRAPH 2017, which is at the end of this month.
- Threadripper will arrive as two models - 12-core/24-thread 1920X, which is priced at $799, and 16-core/32-thread 1950X, which is $999.
- Finally, the packaging. Oh my goodness, the packaging. Threadripper, as you may recall, is a CPU, but it requires a new form factor for coolers. Nevertheless, it doesn't need an entirely massive box, right?
What I'm interested in is how Threadripper will compete against Intel's Kaby Lake/Skylake-X, though people have been clamoring that Threadripper will far outperform the lineup.
We will see in about a week.
