THQ Nordic revealed a big financial report the other day, but unlike most financial reports, this one wasn’t actually that boring, because hidden among the usual corporate mire and jargon, there were some truly interesting – and happy – tidbits of news.
The first bit of news: apparently, the Saints Row series isn’t as finished as we first thought! After Volition tried to branch away from the series with… uh… that other game they made, (I literally had to Google it, it was called Agents of Mayhem) they decided that it was time to go back to what put them on the map with a brand-new full entry into the Saints Row series. Which, on one hand, makes me happy because I like the series, but on the other makes me sad because it pretty much had the best ending you could hope for.
But that’s not the only game that’s getting a revisit: the long-awaited Dead Island 2, which was announced years ago and many people assume had died, is crawling out of its shallow grave. To help it actually come out, THQ Nordic has entrusted development to Dambuster Studios, the people behind… er… Homefront: The Revolution. But considering that the game was originally being worked on by Sumo Digital, the creators of Crackdown 3, maybe it’s still technically an upgrade.
And finally: friggin' Timesplitters, baby! After purchasing the IP ages and ages ago, it seems THQ Nordic is finally ready to do something with it! They’ve even hired co-creator Steve Ellis, who’s also worked on Max Payne 3 and Perfect Dark, to help chart the game’s future. Still a long way from actually starting development, but for a starved fan like myself, I’ll take what I can get.
Except the third one.
I just… didn’t really care for the third one.
Wasn’t too good.
