Red Faction: Guerrilla, the third-person shooter developed by Volition, is returning stronger than ever, with the Red Faction Guerrilla Re-Mars-tered edition.

THQ Nordic announced in a press release that the 2009 title will be remastered with improved graphics and coming to PC and current-gen consoles by the second quarter of this year. The specific release date will be announced "in due time."

Red Faction: Guerrilla is the third iteration on the series, taking place 50 years after the event of the first one. You take the role of an insurgent fighter, establishing freedom from the oppressive Earth Defense Force. With a trusty sledgehammer, you can destroy the world around you to suit your needs.

The remaster will include fully reworked graphics, improved shadows & lighting, shader & postprocessing improvements, and native 4k support. THQ Nordic was even kind enough to share this fun fact in the press release.

"One random yet fun fact about Mars (in real-life): At a height of 25km, Olympus Mons on Mars is the largest volcano in the Solar System and is nearly three times as tall as Mount Everest."
