It’s been a little less than a year when we last heard about Showtime’s attempts to bring Microsoft’s most iconic IP, Halo, to the tiny screen, and all we learned back then was that Mr. Halo himself, Master Chief, would play an important, if not central, role in the plot. Since then, it’s been radio silence, which I guess makes enough sense considering how long these projects tend to take.
But just the other day, Showtime made a very surprise announcement: the guy you see in the picture above, Mr. Pablo Schreiber, as seen in American Gods and Orange is the New Black, will be playing John-117. That’s the face of Master Chief.
Ok.
They also revealed that a new character, Quan Ah, would be played by an Australian actress named Yerin Ha, but I don’t really think that matters. What matters is that this is the first time that Master Chief has ever had a face in Halo media, and it will be that guy. I’m not saying that it’s a good or a bad thing, I’m just saying… y’know… it’s a thing.
The show is set to release sometime in 2020. So you have probably over a year to get used to… this.
Whatever this is.
