Pokemon didn't show up at this year's E3, oddly enough. Despite being one of, if not the biggest "Nintendo" property, all of the latest Pokemon news came to us in a pre-E3 Nintendo Direct, which updated us on Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, the new remake of the latest Pokemon games, Nintendo Silver and Gold coming to the virtual shop, and of course, Pokken Tournament getting released on the Switch. Not bad news by any stretch, but it did bum out some fans who were putting stock in the rumor that there would be a mainstream, proper Pokemon RPG coming out for the Switch. After all, Game Freak has said they prefer mobile consoles, and the Switch is nothing if not that, with a little bit of extra power packed in.
Well, at this year's E3, they had nothing new to show, but Nintendo did mention Pokemon, in so far as to reassure those disheartened fans that just because Pokken Tournament is coming to the Switch, doesn't mean a mainstream RPG won't be. Just that it's going to take more time for it to be ready to be revealed, as it's "more than a year away."
So, in summary, yes. There is, in fact, a full-fledged Pokemon RPG coming to the Switch.
Other than that, though, we know nothing. Will it be another Ultra update of Sun and Moon? Will it be their combined third game, which fans have already dubbed "Stars"? Will it be something like Pokemon Colosseum? Only time will tell...
