The Witcher 3 GOTY Edition Won't Carry Save Files

Despite wanting to move on to their latest, most ambitious original IP, The Witcher developer CD Projekt Red isn't done with their high-fantasy adventure quite yet. Now that the last expansion, Blood and Wine, has come out to critical acclaim, there's still one last thing the Witcher 3 has on-offer: a Game of the Year edition, which will come packed with all the expansions, DLC, and bonuses that the other players had gotten during the game's surprisingly long run as the talk of the town.

So, a great chance for people who lagged behind to catch up with the rest of the gaming world, or for players who already have the game to get everything in one neat package. But if you fall into the latter case, be warned: if you're playing on a PS4 or an Xbox One, your saved data from the original game will not cross over into the GOTY edition.

"The save files on consoles won't be compatible between different game versions (GOTY vs regular version) as they are treated by systems as separate products. This is something that's not up to us. Sorry."

The good news is that if you're a PC Gamer, this won't be an issue for you. Also, it's recommended that players with older copies of the game just buy the season pass, because it's more economical and because the GOTY edition doesn't come with any new content anyway.

...So yeah. Now that I think about it, this isn't really news at all, is it?
