What does the empty clip signify, that her heart is still empty after Lee?
Let's break it down chronologically. First, the setting is peculiar. When we left saw Clementine, winter was coming, and it was coming hard. Now, however, it is decidedly not winter. Also, we see a single walker shamble into frame, growling as they are want to do. However, the poor fella is looking a little worse for wear. Perhaps that's showing the level of decay has progressed since the last game. And unless it's been burning for years, it's a recent occurrence. This hypothesis is supported when the walker starts digging into a fresh meal. There's no screaming, so we'll just assume the victim wasn't just sleeping off a hard night.
I wasn't expecting guests!
Then, off camera, a can is kicked. The walker looks toward the source and finds a bullet lodged in its frontal lobe, as walkers are want to do. Camera switches, pans to a newly emptied gun, and then fully reveals everyone favorite little scamp, Clementine. This time, though, she doesn't seem so little. She still has her signature hat, but it seems she forgot one of Lee's very few lessons, as her hair has indeed gotten longer. This further supports a kind of time skip between games. Finally, we see the only surprising detail of the entire trailer, a single quote.
Why do I doubt he was "marked" by the colonel's 11 herbs and spices? That one was marked too. We must be gettin' close
This line is muttered by a male figure who is absolutely not Clementine. He's also not Kenny or any other recognizable character. Telltale released that this man is Javier. And not only is he allied with Clementine, but he will even be playable in the game. Telltale's other games, such as Game of Thrones and Borderlands, focused on multiple outlooks, but this is the first time for their Walking Dead franchise of games. Javier has one defining characteristic so far, and that's a strange tattoo on his neck. Surely that means something, but there's no telling what yet.
The quote itself is also curious. What is the mark he's referring to? Is it a good or bad sign? It is apparent they are intending to find the source, but whether in search for safety or revenge is yet to be seen. All we know for sure is they're looking for it, and they're almost there. Just like my hype meter is almost at critical levels. As a huge fan of seasons 1 and 2 of Telltale's Walking Dead Depression Simulator, this is one title I hope to see more of during E3 and beyond.
